UN-ESCAP
art direction / print design
The goal of the project was to re-design, sort of re-brand a bureaucratic annual report to a visually appealing and easy-to-digest book. My biggest challenge was to take these dry information and redesign them, and present them in a visually pleasing way and, also not leave out any details.
The contents of the project were scattered amongst word documents from different sources with different types of chart and figures. I tackled this by giving the book a unified structure, but with space for variations amongst the chapters. Chapters would have a different color scheme, but still tied with the structure of the book. Some of the diagrams had to be redrawn to better communicate. I convinced my client that leaving some white space in between such heavy material would help in the flow for a reader. There is a lot of data in the book in the form of charts, diagrams, tables. And at times they can be overwhelming. This is why a brief pause or some white space helps in the flow for a reader.
